1. Re: Seam page actions: Does Seam provide ability to not call them on partial page re-render
ajaygupta0512 May 21, 2008 1:56 PM (in response to ajaygupta0512)One typo: In the last paragraph, I meant to state that using Seam page actions to load objects from the database is not a good design but we cannot move to an alternative approach right now due to time constraints on our project.

dan.j.allen May 21, 2008 11:54 PM (in response to ajaygupta0512)This is a planned feature. See http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBSEAM-2741 for the report and an interim workaround. I am assuming, of course, that your AJAX is an Ajax4jsf or ICEFaces postback. If you AJAX is another initial request, then you have to do a different kind of check.
The good news is that there is already support built in for what you want. We just want to make it easier.

ajaygupta0512 May 28, 2008 2:17 PM (in response to ajaygupta0512)Dan (my friend),
Thanks very much for taking time to respond to my question. I think the answer you posted above was probably was for some other post (smiles). The JIRA ticket you quoted is for Spring. I have validated that Seam page actions get invoked every time a page is re-rendered (does not matter if we are re-rendering a part of a page or the entire page). It does not seem like there is a way to control invocations of Seam page actions only in certain scenarios unless I add some boolean variables in my action classes and carry out the page actions only if those boolean variables are true.
Lastly, I purchased your book and commend your hard work and thoroughness in the book. I really like it a lot.
Thanks

4. Re: Seam page actions: Does Seam provide ability to not call them on partial page re-render
andre1001 Jan 14, 2009 4:06 PM (in response to ajaygupta0512)Same trouble.
Seam tries to refresh same page, besides I'm using an Ajax invocation to bring another conversation.
<h:dataTable value="#{conversationList}" var="entry"> <h:column> <a4j:commandLink action="#{entry.select}" value="#{entry.description}" reRender="meio"/>   <h:outputText value="[current]" rendered="#{entry.current}"/> </h:column> </h:dataTable>
<ui:define name="content"> <div id="content"> <h:form> <a4j:include id="meio" viewId="#{navegacao.selecao}" ajaxRendered="true"/> </h:form> </div> </ui:define>
Is it possible to get a conversation without rendering a new page?

walternvlpe Feb 17, 2009 4:27 PM (in response to ajaygupta0512)How Can I use Ajax Support with 2 combos(selectOnes), One for countries, another one for states.
Let me explain this, ajax support work perfectly, both combos Change any time I pick a Country, States List made Ajax Refresh and show me the states of the selected country,
Now the problem, when the form have more fields, for example employe name, and this field is Hibernate REQUIRED, I got and error cause Ajax Rerender all the page, and I have nothing yet on this required Field( ITs not a partial re render problem for ajax and Hibernate?)
Hope you all can help me
My besty regards

The right JIRA issue is: JBSEAM-2469
