Xhtml document and entities

Hi,
is there a nicer way of writing JavaScript in xhtml file, without needing to escape all entites (like "&") ?

Weird, firefox seems not to like it...  It gives JS error when page loads.
By the way, is there a way of dealing with entities in EL expressions?
