- Build the excel example
- Deploy the example to an AS
- Run the example
- Examine the example

If you need further help, give specific info what you did, what you expected and what you got.

3. Re: Excel file generation using seam excel taglib
mrfarhankhan Oct 17, 2008 11:48 AM (in response to pbadiger)Hi! Can I use the seam excel and pdf libs with JBoss. Actually working on an application with following technologies JBoss4.2.2.GA, EJB, JSF and I want pdf and excel support for my datatables.
I tried adding jboss-seam-excel.jar and jxl.jar but when I start JBoss I receive the following error.
javax.faces.FacesException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: No ClassLoaders found for: org.jboss.seam.excel.ui.UIGroupColumns
Also, I find the following hirearchy in the downloaded lib org.jboss.seam.excel.exporter.excelExporter.export which is different from the one you have mentioned in another thread. Note that I wasn't able to download the libs from the link you mentioned and I downloaded the entire jboss-seam-2.1.0.CR1.zip.
Thanks in advance.

4. Re: Excel file generation using seam excel taglib
nickarls Oct 17, 2008 12:25 PM (in response to pbadiger)Looks like a classloader problem, build and run the examples/excel sample application.
EAR or WAR? The exporter has an alias so it can be referenced in other ways, too as I recall. Again, start with the example and reverse-engineer. -
5. Re: Excel file generation using seam excel taglib
mrfarhankhan Oct 17, 2008 2:48 PM (in response to pbadiger)Thanks for the quick response. The problem is that am not using the seam framework. I just want to use the pdf and excel functionality for my richfaces datatable.

6. Re: Excel file generation using seam excel taglib
danielc.roth Oct 17, 2008 2:59 PM (in response to pbadiger)Won't work. Excel and PDF-lib depends on seam core stuff.

7. Re: Excel file generation using seam excel taglib
nickarls Oct 17, 2008 3:00 PM (in response to pbadiger)Well, the subject says the seam excel taglib, from where one might assume that there is a dependency on the seam framework itself. I would be surprised if you could just rip out a part and use it like that.
But do report back if you get it to work somehow.

9. Re: Excel file generation using seam excel taglib
danielc.roth Oct 17, 2008 3:27 PM (in response to pbadiger)I think it might be hard... You could try to checkout excel/pdf code from seam svn nd import it into your project. Then You probably need rewrite some code to get it to work. In particular DocumentStore and DocumentStoreServlet. I think it's doable, but might take a couple of hours....
