Regarding e:link URL, I think it looks pretty obvious that the tag expects a valid URL :)

I suggest consulting classloader to find a relatively referenced resource when MailformedUrlException is threw. It would make me happy :) Anyway there is way around that.
If you still insist on valid absolute URL you should fix the Seam docs :) (19.14.1 Stylesheet links). -
