    KubeKit (ToolKit for seam)

Hi i am a developer from Colombia and im designing and building toolkit of utilities for helping development with seam 2 and i want to meet people who is interested on this and help me to develop this

The KubeKit consists in the followings modules

      Security(Role, Permission, Dynamic menu)

      Chat and notifications

      Dynamic reporter

Creation of dynamic structures and feed them via files like xml, xls, txt, etc

      Utility DAO (KubeDAO, KubeQuery)

And a set of utilities for devolopment of every application

The basic idea is to develop tools (Class, Xhtml;JS,etc.) that be reusable in every project and that be modificable for everyone according to the needs of the bussines

Well im new in this site but i have depeloped with this framework for over 2 years well if you want to checkout my job ill let this but is in Spanish :P

          Hi,

We're always interested but although we speak Spanish, it would be useful if you also have an English version of your site for the rest of the non-Spanish speaking world and don't use such a low port number for your web, or better just use 80. A lot of organisations don't allow access to such web-sites which further restricts your audience.

Well that is not my web site is a software that i developed for an University of Colombia its just an example and about the port it was a requirement of the University.

            • 3. Re: KubeKit (ToolKit for seam)

Well and talking about what im proposing how can i show about what KubeKit is about what is developed and what is left ??? and to know who is interested on this ???

                Hi,

Maybe we are mis-communicating at the moment.

I sincerely think that each activity to stimulate the use of Seam should be applauded. Therefor I support your action. The only reason for my previous message is that I feel you can reach a bigger audience by communicating your message in English in stead of Spanish. Adverstising on this English forum means that people can get further detail info on your website. However that site is in Spanish which restritcs your public substantially. A lot of forum members are Spanish speaking so for them this wouldn't be a problem. But my idea of being member of the Seam community is sharing knowledge and experience with ALL other members independently of the language they speak (mine is Dutch).

The site-link you provide leads to a site which is build WITH the framework and not DESCRIBING it, which makes it even more difficult to see what you intend to promote. Before sending the previous message I tried finding something about the KubeKit, but Google can only find the messages on this forum!

It would be very useful if you have publications, documentation or whatever other form of dissemination. Additionally is your framework intended to be non-commercial opene source etc. and are you're intending to add Seam complementary components in stead of replacements.

Again, I am very positive but, my 30 years of experience in this business makes me cautious.

Hopefully you can give some additional info.

                Leo

I'm with Leo on this. I'm afraid I don't speak Spanish and was confused when I followed your link. Seam is already a great framework and anything that helps promote it or makes development even quicker/easier is good.

I would be interested in looking at what you've done. If its intended as open source I would recommend that create a project for it on sourceforge or google code or somewhere like that to make it readily available (or you could host it somewhere yourself). Once its available you will find a lot of people here will download it and comment.

I know that I have several small components that I usually just copy across my projects and I'm sure others do too so you will probably find people will offer these to you to add to your tool suite too.

What i want is to develop a set of classes, scripts, css , etc that helpus to everyone to solve common problems in the software development like DAOs, chat, notifications, security management etc...

                                Hi,

I just followed your links and saw some of your code examples. I would like to advice to work on specific add-ons which would simplify working with Seam and not replacing existing components. Areas where Seam needs an extra push: Editors for the eMail, PDF and Excel templates (including code completion). Adtional jBPM integration (Annotations) for non-human tasks etc.

If I understand your documentation well, your additional GUI-components will be dynamically build and are based on a User/Role/Permission model. I think that would be a very interesting feature, but that's basically the UI-part (JSF)

I have already developed a complete framework for automatic traffic management and it is basically a Seam based framework extended with a domain specific information core including all Factories/Repositories/Validators etc. It uses almost all parts of Seam and until now I haven't found a reason to replace Seam conponents, because they all work as a charm.

So, at the moment I am quite happy with the existing Seam 2 components and I am already starting up for Seam 3 which will include more and better components, but it is still in its development phase, so I will not use it our production environment for a while (next 6 months ??).

Again, I support your work and keep the Seam forum informed. I will send you a email to the provided adress, so we can also communicate off-line.

Well with the security utilities i dont replace the seam security i adapt it to some specific requirements and i make it dinamyc easy to work and i think that every software project can reuse it extend it making easy the development of this part in the project without the need of reinvent the wheel i mean the security works out of the box well that has been my experience with this classes and again ai say it does not replace seam security it extends it improves it and provides functionality with zero code and can be configured for other needs. It also provides the functinality of LogBooks out of the box just is inject the component and use the method what i want whit the kubekit is to find common problems in the development software and make a solution, so this way every programmmer dosnt have to develop it again. thanks for your atention and i will like to contact with your friend for supporting my project and i will like to promove the seam development
