Can one of the seam vetrans please advise on a good way to use the SeamTest base to test my pages.xml redirects?

I can't really answer your question as I don't use SeamTest. But, I do use JSFUnit to test my app and it works pretty well.

It may not be what you are looking for but, it does allow extensive testing of the app.
