How coupled is the journal to hornetq?

Supposing you wanted something very fast to maintain state reliably with ACID semantics could you use the journal that hornetq is using?

The journal is not tied to HornetQ.
It is possible we will move the journal to its own subproject after the 2.0 release as a lot of other projects have expressed their interest to reuse the journal.
