Richfaces and geoserver

Hi everyone

I have to port a web application in Seam and I must use facelet and Richfaces.
The web application use geoserver too. it use OpenMap but I must use something most beatiful open library.

I am new for geoserver.

Does geoserver work with Seam + Richfaces.

Is Geoserver an application server, a JSF component library or something else? I've never heard of it.
