EJB 2 support

Yes. AS 7.1.0.CR1b has support for EJB2.x.

It's a candidate release, yes.

AS 6.1.0 does but development for JBoss AS6 (and previous versions) has completed stopped.

You can wait for AS 7.1.0.Final release which is going to happen very soon.
