Portlet on JBoss AS

Hi guys:

I am new to JBoss. Just wondering does JBoss AS support JSR286 portlet?

It seems to me that only JBoss Portal support portlet.

Please help. Thank you.

Well, Liferay and other portlet engines deploy into AS 7 so you can say it works but JAR286 is not a server-integrated technology(?) so I think the question is a bit misleading

Hi Hick, thanks for answer. So do you mean I need to install some extra feature packs to AS 7 to make it work?

Is it GateIn Portlet Container?

You usually don't have to install anything extra as the portal container distributions are usually just complete application servers with the portal engine pre-installed. Yes, GateIn is one of them (since it's a JBoss-offering, one would think it would be especially well server-integrated)

In many cases you can also install the portal engine components into an existing AS but that is usually more complex (OK, not that bad on Liferay, never tried it on GateIn)
