why was all config combined to one file?

as an administrator of jboss, not a programmer, it is very difficult to find what I am looking for in jboss 7's config file. Are there other config files, or is domain.xml (host.xml) it?

That's a bit surprising since what I've heard from admins is the opposite of that. They find it easier to configure the system since all the relevant information is centrally available in a single domain/standalone configuration file, unlike previously where it was scattered in various different xmls in different locations.

I must say I prefer the centralized model. Setting a web-related value in the web subsystem is much more natural than e.g. hunting it down from some server.xml in some magic, exploded WAR somewhere. And with the centralised model you also have the CLI and HTTP interfaces etc.
