how to render xhtml screen while using a4j:jsFunction and ampersand

I am using ampersand &(& &#38) inside xhtml file, when i try to do perticular event it's not happening.

Example: when I try to do some search operation on the screen by using <code>a4j:jsFunction</code> it's not working and showing loding icon contineously.

how to find the problem in component or in form! ( I tested with other character codes all other than this are working fine)
