    swathi2013

      Hi Team,

As I am new with JBoss, Could you please guide me on the compatability & installation process?

      One server

      OS - Window Server 2008 R2

      Java 1.6.0

      second Server

      OS - RHEL 5.4

      Java 1.6.0

      Query:

      > Whether JBoss 5.0.1 is compatabile with Windows Server2008 R2?

      > Which OS will be better to install & use JBoss 5.0.1?

      Thanks in Advance.

      Swathi.

          Hello Swathi,

          welcome to the forum

You can use JBoss on every platform where a compatible Java JVM will be available. This is true for Windows, Linux, RHEL and others (I prefere RHEL or Linux).

5.0.1 will be very old, you might use the latest 5.x release.

It is possible to run a mix with different OS, but I recommend to keep the installation simple

If you start new consider AS7 because this will run with Java7 and further (Java6 is EOL).

There is no installation necessary, just unzip the download and start the JBoss

            Hi Wolf-Dieter Fink ,

            Thanks for sharing the information.

Can you share me the installations steps document w.r.t JBoss 5.0.1?

            Regards,

            Swathi.

There is no installation, just unzip and start it with the script for your OS  (*.bat or *.sh in the bin directory)

The documentation can be downloaded at the jboss.org site, see here
