Weld Scanning Question

I'm using Weld 1.1.13

I'm curious about the features around scanning control.  Let's say I have my libraries outside of my war file, can I still use <weld:scan> and <weld:include> to reference these external classes?

I don't thing so at least in case of exclude:

"Weld allows you to exclude classes in your archive from scanning, having container lifecycle events fired, and being deployed as beans."
