Is it possible to monitor "Active Users" of Deployed Jboss application? ? ?

Hi Developers,

    I want to monitor "Active Users"( Count only ) of my Application which was deployed in JBoss Server. But No idea how to monitor it via Agent plugin. Can anyone please guide me by suggesting ideas ? ? ?. Please share your experience and knowledge with me.

    Thanks for accepting me in the RHQ Community. I Understood my responsibility, I will not be a kid anymore( For RHQ ). I will try to be a teenager by asking meaning questions.

    JBoss Version : JBoss 4.0.5

    RHQ Version : 4.6

    By the googling I have been getting many ideas. But Having no idea , which one is best? 

    1 ) CurrentThreadBusy

    2 ) ThreadPool

    3 ) ManagedConnectionPool

    4 ) MemoryPool

    To be honest, I dont know anything of it. Please guide me, which one is best to monitor active user of my applications.

The JBoss AS 4 plugin as a "Currently Active Sessions" metric for web applications. Would that fit your need?

I have found JBoss As, JBoss As 5 , JBoss As 7 Plugins. But Not JBoss 4. Could you share me the sourecode link.

    I have analyzed the metric "Currently Active Sessions" in my local machine. I have found some interesting things.

      1 ) Session Count is getting increased, Even If I have visited the index.jsp page. This is not a best monitoring metric I feel. The Session count should be increased, When the user loggedin to the application with valid username and password.

      2 ) Session Count is getting increased, If I have refreshed the page in Mozilla at the indexjsp page. This case is not applicable in Internet Explorer.

      3 ) Session Count is not decreased, If I have logged Off from the application.

The Metric is getting increased, If I have loggedin to the application.

I think this metric is resulting like HttpSession objects. Is it correct ? Please clarify my path.

The session count is the number of active sessions in the webapp. You're correct that this number basically corresponds to the number of active HttpSession objects. But this depends on how the application that you try to monitor is programmed. If it creates a session object even when accessing index.jsp without logging in (which it can), then you're probabaly right that that metric is not ideal for tracking the number of logged in users.

But as I said, this is entirely at the discretion of the application you're monitoring, so you need to consult the application to find some metrics for monitoring it.
