The only way to update metric definitions safely is to do so in the plugin descriptor (rhq-plugin.xml) and deploy the updated version of the plugin. Trying to manually manipulate the type definitions, or the database version of the plugin, will not work well as plugin meta-data updates are carefully controlled.

If you don't update your plugin code, how do you plan to include the new metrics values in the metrics collection report?
You can automate your plugin build process with Jenkins.

My team told me that keeping data in xml file is not a good idea. That is why I have asked like that . ... Now understood . I will think about something good.
