JBoss CMP 2.0 and Date type

Date and related types are still problematic, so once and for all; would it be possible to get somebody JBoss CMP gurus to post the recommended way to have DATE, Timestamp sql types in the database, mapped to a CMP using related java date types and defined in the descriptors in which way...

I'm not a GURU but have had a small amt of success with date type fields...what is your underlying database?

for development just HyperSonic, but eventually Oracle9i

Don't know anything about Hypersonic, but for Sybase I was able to get dates to work by adding the following mapping to my standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml

. <java-type>java.util.Date</java-type>
. <jdbc-type>TIMESTAMP</jdbc-type>
. <sql-type>DATETIME</sql-type>

Just to make the final point. Using EJB2.0 one have to code finders that uses Date types - in the proprietary deployment descriptors. It will work in the ejb-jar.xml in JBoss, but it is not acc. to spec and it is not portable anyway. So code the querys in JBoss using the jboss-jdbc.xml At Oracle 9ias this will be the orion-ejb.xml
