How can I get data from BPMS with a java application ?

Good afternoon, I hope anyone can help me. What I need to do is to retrieve information from BPMS with a Java application, so that I can access the business rules and processes I created on BPMS. Can anyone tell me where I can learn to do that ? Thanks a lot
