    Getting started

    b.dauvissat

      Hi.

I downloaded Eclipse plugins for FUSE but I can't figure out how to use them.

With those plugins come tutorials. But all this tutorials are about the and older version. They talk about a logicblaze server (looking for a specific JAR file) but the file is nowhere on my computer after installing all products.

So, are there other tutorials or documents saying how we can start with FUSE ?

      Thanks for the answer.

I have the same problem. It appears that IONA has no answer to that. We just have to figure it out and send them the details!!

LogicBlaze support was much better than IONA. They are seriously not concerned with woes people have!!

            I won't be so pessimistic.

I would say that it's a "new" product and then, we must give them time and some credit for correcting the problem wemay encounter.

Anyone from Iona to say I'm not wrong ?

            Thanks.

PS : Watching the thread is of no use, no mail came to alert me about Samanthb's answer...

The Fuse Tooling has been updated (version 1.3.5).

Please see http://open.iona.com/wiki/display/ProdInfo/FUSEEclipseTools for details on installing the Tooling. As some of the package names have changed, ideally you want to remove the 1.3.4 Tooling before applying the update.

              Regards,

              /Dave

                Hi,

Any answers to the original question posted by Benjamin on how to use the eclipse plugins for FUSE? Tutorial would be good.

The link http://open.iona.com/wiki/display/ProdInfo/FUSEEclipseTools  only talks about how to download the plugin and not how to use it.

                Thanks

                NP

I've added some flash tutorials at the bottom of the wiki page that show how to use the tooling. They are a little old but a lot of the information is relevant with the current release of the Fuse Tooling.

                  Regards,

                  /Dave

Thanks Dave. The tutorial is helpful but I encountered some issues when trying to create a contract first service using eclipse.

Here is the error I get (I did download the latest org.eclipse.jst.j2ee_1.1.103.v200706121630.jar as mentioned in http://open.iona.com/wiki/display/ProdInfo/FUSEEclipseTools)

An internal error occurred during: "J2EEComponentMappingUpdateJob".

                    java.lang.NullPointerException

Any ideas on how to resolve this error? I am using eclipse 3.3.0.

Also, the second issue is that the tutorial talks about using maven (and that it comes along with fuse esb plugin)...but what I see in my environment is different than what is in the tutorial...

I see Maven2 --> Update Source Folders, Add dependency, diable options.

                    Please help

                    Thanks

Just an update...I did resolve the nullPointerException, but I could find striking difference in the maven that comes with the fuse plugin v/s that shown in the tutorial.

                      1) there is no 'build phase' --> generate sources...instead there is 'run as/ --> maven2 generate sources. Also, for some reason, after the sources are generated, it does not put the generated sources under "target/generated-sources"

                      2) Also there is no 'Synchronize with Maven" option.

Can you please help resolve these issues?

                      Thanks

                      NP

Yep, as noted on the wiki page where those tutorials reside, the FUSE Eclipse tooling has been updated over time and the screencasts need to re-recorded to reflect this.

                          Hi NP,

I'm facing the same nullPointerException issues (with the fix applied).

How did you manage to get this resolved?

                          Thanks much, sah.

You may be using the "Eclipse Europa Fall Maintenance Packages". If so can you try and overwrite org.eclipse.jst.j2ee_1.1.105.v200709122200.jar instead.
