If you need the message itself then use the JMS or core API using a message filter or browser.

If you want to browse queue content, use the JMS QueueBrowser or some other tool designed for that purpose. That being said, message properties are returned - depending on what information you are looking for, you could add important bits to the message properties (like a id or small string) which would then be available in the JMX json output.
