Can I use vdb as source for other view models?

Is it possible for me to use a vdb as a source for other view models?

I have a vdb that consist of just a source model that looks at sql database.  Can I have a view model look at this vdb as its source?

Yes, you can. Take a look at the VDB Import feature here "Import-vdb Element" Using XML & DDL · Teiid Documentation

You can add a view model to the existing VDB too, but if you want to keep the original VDB as separate and create a new VDB then use the vdb import feature.

Hi Ramesh,
So I can still make edits to the vdb.xml even if I am using Teiid Designer?  I saw in documentation that I should never make edits to the vdb because it can cause corruption.

The document link is when working with the Dynamic VDBs. When working with the Designer based VDBs, see in the VDB Explorer window, it gives an option for similar import structure.

Yes, you do not want to edit the vdb.xml directly in Designer.

How would I create a view model from the vdb?

No, if you want it you need to copy the model.
