    Rich Text Editor

First off, congratulations on the RF 3.2 release. However, people will always want new components, and I am no exception. In my case, I am really looking forward to a rich text editor easily bound to Seam without any exotic JS library/Seam remoting combination. According to Pete Muir, this was expected by the Seam team in the 3.2 release:

      http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBSEAM-2307

Unfortunately, the rich text editor didn't make the cut even though it has a sizable number of votes in the wiki. Can we expect a rich text editor soon?

      Thanks.

No, this component was not planned for 3.2.0 release and not scheduled yet for any future releases. See http://labs.jboss.com/auth/wiki/RichFacesFuture (xHTML Editor)

So I guess Pete and the Seam team were mistaken. It happens. By the way, I was aware of the URL that you provided. That's how I knew that the rich text editor had so many votes! 24 to be exact.

Why are there no plans for the rich text editor in the future? The vote tally is pretty high--even higher than a lot of the components that did make it into 3.2. Not that I am complaining. Things like the progress bar (which has just 7 votes) are just plain cool, and I am sure a lot of people will be able to use it. But with such a high vote total, and the fact that it is a fairly easy component to build (at least in Shane Bryzak's estimation on Seam's JIRA), I would think this would be on the short list of upcoming components.

Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

            Thanks.

My Estimation for this component is about 2 to 3 months from the gathering requirements to production condition.

Thanks for the estimate, Sergey. But were you merely theorizing, or does your estimate mean that you are actually adding the rich text editor to the schedule for an upcoming release?

Meanwhile, how about those 23 other voters for this component? Can the rich text editor get some love from the community?
