          quick answer:

          - use jbpm 3.2
          - learn jsf
          - do it

You seem to be wise or maybe a know-it-all, I've read many of your answers and you're quite unkind. Forgive us for our ignorance, but why do you answer if you're not helping? Do you like to feel superior or what???

Unkind and not helping? in this post? You should read other posts by me.. so no, in this case not unkind and truly helping, because:

bullet 1: Since he did not mention what version he was using, I just directed him to the correct version of jbpm where it is possible to customize the forms.

bullet 2: I pointed out what 'technology' is used for the forms. I do not have to teach him jsf. Lots of other sites for that.

bullet 3: I do not have to do his work.

If this would have resulted in e.g. a next question like:

I'd like to have a dropdown list in my form where I can select from multiple values which may be static and I want the default selected item to be the one that corresponds to a value of a certain processvariable.

Then I could and probably would have given an example which would have cost me about 15 minutes (I invested lots of expensive spare time in jBPM and JSF to get to the level I currently am, and Yes, I think, just like everybody who knows me, that that level is superior to everyone else's, cough....)

Besides that, since we (well, you) do get personal and it was not even your post originally, my filter just automatically added another entry.

              Kind regards,

              Übergod

You're right, it's not even my post but i believe that he's just trying to learn, and yes,i did get it personal, 'cause I'm in the same situation as him, just trying to get involved with jbpm which implies a big effort and a lot of time. Besides, i appreciate your knowledge though you are superior (cough cough).

Pleased to have had such a good chat with you

                  ok... love, peace and understanding....

Learning yes, but most of the things everyone learns, from children to adults, is from banging you head, burning your fingers or whatever, not by sitting back.

The thing is that if someone posts a question like this, including the way it is formulated, most of the time they have a very limited amount of knowledge about java, webinterfaces etc in general, let alone bpm. Often their boss asked them to look into something, and they want someone else to do their work, or something related. I'm sure you know the http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html document and this original post contains lots of aspects described in this document.

But my offer stands. If you have an example with some customized form and have a specific problem, don't hesitate to ask, seriously. I have so much knowledge (cough, cough, cough) that if I can answer questions with small statements, I'm more than willing to share.
