        Ok, so I think if you are complaining about tools, you may be missing the point of seam.

        Personally, I use seam-gen to get a project started. After that the entire framework is so simple, I really do not need tools to do anything.
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~My tools means plugins such as JBOssTool-Seam module instead of Seam-Gen. Netbeans' Seam-plugin can make [facet,JSF TAG, HTML...] writing easier and ensure there is no wrong handwriting!
        I am using Eclipse with standard WTP and nothing from JBoss as far as plugins, it really could not get any simpler.
        ~~~~~~~~I suggest you try RHDS or JBOSSTools, they DO make your job simpler! But those bugs will torture your head!

        What tools would you want? I really don't see anywhere that they would be helpful.
        ~~~~~~~~~I need a tool with good support to SeamTag and with good code(JSF,FACET,XHTML grammer) Assist. It should generate the project's framework correctly(Just as NETBEANS DO), and it should not die frequently(JUST as NETBEANS DO too)!!!
          Thanks to ybxiang.wolf for addressing my concern from JBoss Tools (user) forum.
          Now new version of SEAM already available at http://labs.jboss.com/jbossseam/download/index.html. I hope this version will compliment the available version of JBoss Tools or the nightly built being used.
          I'll keep on trying which available version of Seam vs JBoss Tools vs Eclipse. Not that I'm against RHDS or what so ever. JBoss tools is the stepping stone to prove to management what a reliable product it will be.
          ~~~~~~~I think JBoss tools can do better! But not NOW! It has so many bugs that you can not use it to manage Seam-Project correctly and effectively. I don't think it is difficult to fix those bugs, but those bugs still are there while several weeks past.

          Sorry, i am compaining again.
          I should shut up, at least now.

          Just as "pete.muir@jboss.org" said, RHDS OR JBoss Tool are babies now, we should give those projects more support and patience instead of complaint.

            Everybody, i apologize formaly for my complaint of JBossTools-Seam Module.

            We should give it more support instead of complaint and impatiance, after all it's making our life better.

            If i find NetBeans or JBOssTools' Seam-plugin works, i will come back.

              Well, before I drop dead:

              Tony, could you give some details on how to achieve maximum hot-deployment. Have you added something to the JBoss deployment scanner, do you keep stuff in WEB-INF/dev or what?

              Whoops I didnt hit the notify of reply (off by default - DERR!!!)

              Anyhow I got emails asking me how to do this.

              I will put together a wink if you like? people could add in winks for other IDE's like IntelliJ, NetBeans etc.

              Please advise.

                And no I don't add anything to the JBoss scanner (whatever that is).

                I don't change anything.

                I don't add anything.

                :)

                    Please do. Help is... helpful. Although I'm mostly interested in vanilla Eclipse Europa (WTP) hot-deployment. It looks like it doesn't do exploded deployment. If it does, I'm very interested...

                        I'm sorry i didn't see this thread before but as Pete said it is beta and we are working on getting all the bugs out.

                        If you look at the jira we received over a 100 reports the last 4 weeks and we have closed 60 of these; that doesn't look to me like we are standing still and ignoring requests.

                        And belive me we know that the EAR and packaging issues were bad but these unfortunately were caused by some rather tricky bugs - which we have fixed now. Noone seem to remember all the other features that have been added ;)

                        I hope you will take a look at RHDS beta2 or JBoss Tools beta4 when we release them and give feedback (good and bad) - but please don't expect things get fixed within hours of you posting an issue; the only way you can get such quick turnaround is by submitting a patch.

                        Hope you still will have fun with the tooling.
