Would the Seam team consider adding this sort of functionality to seam-gen? IMO robust and secure user and role management straight out of the box would be a great benefit.

It should be included as part of seam-gen in the Seam 2.1.0 release.

2.1.0.A1 was released this week. It's just an alpha, but it's basically what you'd get in SVN right now.
