Transfering data to a mysql db in JBoss

Hi there,

First post so I hope that I am posting in the correct location. I am new to JBoss. Presently, I am trying to create a web app using JBoss AS 7. Basically, the app will allow multiple users to upload excel spreadsheet files to mysql db on JBoss Server. After this the users will be able to run queries. My question is, what is the best way or even some of the ways to upload data securely to the mysql db? Please can you highlight any pitfalls that I should take into account or that I should research going forward?

My first research direction would perhaps be https + REST for the upload (or Apache HTTP Components)

Thanks Nicklas, I am trying to code up some examples from the Oracle site to get a feel for REST. Someone recommended uploading the file using JSF. Would this be a decent approach to research?

Depends on your UI requirements for the editing part. Uploading is a Servlet-centric activity. Adding JSF just for that is adding an extra layer of complexity (and JSF + file uploading can have its own issues)
