I guess I don't know how to navigate around git very well.
When I drilled down at the URL you provided I only found symbolic references and the comment
<!-- Version properties are inherited from parent -->
I believe that the more useful URL would be https://github.com/wildfly/boms/blob/master/pom.xml
And in this this particular instance the example I used can not be easily answered because the effective version for log4j is whatever version is included in slf4j (version 1.7.7)
The only other remaining concern is that the artifactId in the URL I noted above is 10.1.1.Final which has not yet been released. Is there another URL that would provide the pom.xml for wildfly 10.1.0.Final ?

Oops - I missed seeing the version of log4j which actually was displayed as
1.2.17 -

In this specific case, you would want to look at the pom.xml of 10.1.0.Final tag which is here wildfly/pom.xml at 10.1.0.Final · wildfly/wildfly · GitHub
