The idea of mod_advertise is to advertise one virtual host that will receive via mod_manager the MCMP messages from the cluster.
You should have one VirtualHost just for the mod_manager and the mod_advertise features.
what about if you have one web app that will be hosted on two virtual hosts? How is that configured?
Currently virtual Host (Alias) are no supported. The idea is that the mod_cluster mapping will check the Host: header and choose the node corresponding to the configuration. Create a JIRA for that.
2 VirtualHost in httpd should work if you have 2 balancers.
Is there a way to define a balancer for HTTP and a balancer for HTTPS?
What do you want to do? something like:
ProxyPass / balancer://mycluster1/
ProxyPass / balancer://mycluster2/
and have different cluster for http and https?
Yes. One for http and one for https. Is that possible?
No I have created a JIRA for it (MODCLUSTER-75).
