question - MDB garbage collector

I have a MDB which is calling a JNI method and it is crashing randomly. I see that when it crashes, memory usage is very high. Looks like garbage collection is not functioning properly. Does jboss force garbage collection on MDB?

jboss 2.4.3 with tomcat
Sun Java 1.3.1_02
Windows XP

There was a problem with my application causing memory leak. I fixed it.
