JBoss 3.0.2 default config will not start

I just downloaded 3.0.2 and found that it no longer starts up in its default configuration. 3.0.0 at least ran on my (Linux) system. I've tried IBM JDK1.3.0 and Sun's JDK 1.4.0_01-b03, with the same results:

17:55:45,713 INFO [MainDeployer] Deployed package: file:/opt/jboss-3.0.2/server/default/lib/jbossmx.jar
