Unable to run JBoss on Linux 9

    Ross Mills Newbie

I just put together a brand new Linux 9 system. (I'm not a Linux expert) I downloaded JBoss-3.2.0, unzipped it and then tried to run it. Nothing has been deployed to it. But I still get the following error. I figure it must be a Linux config problem, but I have no idea what...

This looks a little different to the normal localhost related errors. However, check the thread in the FAQ regarding 127.0.0.1 and ensure your /etc/hosts is defined properly and whatever other tips have been provided, and the network configuration for the lo interface (127.0.0.1) is also working.

If they check out, perhaps just post a copy of the /etc/hosts here and the localhost tests or checks you've tried.

Java is reliant on the underlying OS having the network configuration working correctly and since JBoss is nominally network dependent, it is sensitive to improperly configured network systems.

Thank you. The /etc/hosts was the problem. The 127.0.0.1 thread in the FAQ was exactly what I needed to read.

JBoss is up and running. I deployed my app and it is up and running as well.

            Thanks again
