You need to get Xdoclet from xdoclet.sourceforge.net and add it to your classpath so that ant finds it.
well, i had xdoclet installed already, but maybe i had an old version. thanks, i'll try it out.
Have the same problem, even I define classpath with xdoclet-jmx-module.jar for taskdef explicitly in tools.ent and xdoclet-jmx-module.jar contains JMXDocletTask class
Exact same sequence here. I cygwin cvs downloaded jboss-all on Thursday (10/10). Just got the latest xdoclet from cvs, put the jar that contains JMXDocletTask in my classpath, and still get:
file:C:/Java/JBoss/jboss-all/tools/etc/buildfragments/tools.ent:29: taskdef class xdoclet.modules.jmx.JMXDocletTask cannot be found
Am I missing a section of JBoss' documentation somewhere?
Thanks for any and all advice.
i might also chip in that obtaining a new xdoclet, and explicitly specifying its location on my classpath did not solve the problem.
what else is missing?
I just read a similar thread under the FAQ section. The title was "Build Fail". One response was:
The docs are out-of-date.
This changed last Tuesday.
Replace jboss-all with jboss-head
Don't know if they're talking about from cvs or simply to rename the "jboss-all" directory..
Perhaps this will clear things up.
People, I just checked out jboss-head from cvs and successfully ran the build. Didn't have to have any special xdoclet jars in my classpath for it to work.
I had success building from head also, can anyone explain the difference between the checking out the jboss-head vs jboss-all?
I'm having problems with this as well. I have noticed that the reference in the build.xml (xdoclet.modules.jmx.JMXDocletTask) is not the same as what appears in the latest xdoclet jar file (xdoclet.jmx.JMXDocletTask)

jboss-head gets you the HEAD of the CVS trunk (at the moment dev version of JBoss 4.0), jboss-all gets you the head of the 3.x branch.
There was an announcement about this on the dev list about a week ago. Check the mailing list archives for more info (mails from scott stark and/or jason dillon)
And, apparently, read the FAQ =)
