1. Re: is it possible to display <rich:subtable> inside <h:colu
dkarr Jan 15, 2008 11:56 AM (in response to suneel_nani)At a minimum, yes, which you can see at <http://livedemo.exadel.com/richfaces-demo/richfaces/dataTable.jsf>.

sergeysmirnov Jan 15, 2008 12:57 PM (in response to suneel_nani)subtable add TR(s) to the rich:dataTable. So, it should be a direct child of rich:table, not column

3. Re: is it possible to display <rich:subtable> inside <h:colu
dkarr Jan 15, 2008 2:55 PM (in response to suneel_nani)The example in the online demo has subTable as a child of column. I looked for "rich:table" in the entire dev guide, and it only appears once, in a code sample, and without any mention in the text.

Are you sure? -
5. Re: is it possible to display <rich:subtable> inside <h:colu
dkarr Jan 15, 2008 4:27 PM (in response to suneel_nani)Oh. now I see it. I didn't notice the end tag for "column" just before the subtable started. That leaves me with the next question, of whether you meant to say "rich:table", instead of "rich:dataTable" as I expected. As I said, if you search for "rich:table" in the dev guide, you'll find it once, in a code sample, but without any mention.

suneel_nani Jan 15, 2008 4:46 PM (in response to suneel_nani)<rich:dataTable rows="2" id="searchList" value="#{myBean.dataList}" var="customer" border="0">
<f:facet name="header">
<rich:columnGroup>
<rich:column>
<h:outputText value="Name" />
</rich:column>
<rich:column>
<h:outputText value="Address" />
</rich:column>
</rich:columnGroup>
</f:facet>
<rich:columnGroup>
<rich:column style="vertical-align: top">
<h:outputText value="#{customer.name}" />
</rich:column>
<rich:column style="vertical-align: top">
<rich:subTable value="#{customer.addresses}" var="address">
<rich:column style="vertical-align: top">
<h:panelGrid columns="1" border="0">
<h:outputText value="#{address.addressLine1}" />
<h:outputText value="#{address.addressLine2}" />
<h:outputText value="#{address.city}" />
<h:outputText value="#{address.state}" />
<h:outputText value="#{address.zip}" />
</h:panelGrid>
</rich:column>
</rich:subTable>
</rich:column>
</rich:columnGroup>
</rich:dataTable>
Note: customer is a list which contains a list of addresses.
i reason to put subtable inside column of data table so that i will not print name on each and every row for list of address.
but i could not display properly
i did not find any rich:table tag -
7. Re: is it possible to display <rich:subtable> inside <h:colu
sergeysmirnov Jan 15, 2008 5:38 PM (in response to suneel_nani)There is no rich:table. Forget it.
If you desire to insert a table inside the column, use rich:dataTable, instead of rich:subTable
If I were you, I pay attention on rowspan attribute of rich:column to create such table. Using this future it is possible to use rich dataTable and subTable to show users and several addresses for each of them in the second column. -
8. Re: is it possible to display <rich:subtable> inside <h:colu
dkarr Jan 15, 2008 6:28 PM (in response to suneel_nani)Would that allow a single "linear" set of headers for the entire table? I filed an ER recently to address just that need. I noticed it was assigned and set for 3.2.0 (which I won't be able to use for a while, unfortunately).

Can you give an example for this? I generated rowspan from size of my child list but no chance to get it working (layout). -
13. Re: is it possible to display <rich:subtable> inside <h:colu
gerritka Jun 27, 2008 11:43 AM (in response to suneel_nani)more infos:
I use RichFaces 3.2.1 with JSF 1.2 RI 1.2_08
My problems occur if i try to make a table with 4 columns:
- 1 text column left
- 1 subtable with two columns
- 1 text column right
where can i set colspan for the subtable?
