This is a simple Hello World example that shows how to configure a portlet with Icefaces, Seam, and Facelets.

I had to make 2 changes to the icefaces code. The code is included in the zip and this icefaces forum entry outlines the changes. I will look into contributing the patches.

One note is that the icefaces portlet does not currently support navigation. This is not the end of the world for an ajax-based portlet.
