EJB 3.0 is not only a standard J2EE programming interface but also a new approach for application development. The spirit behind EJB 3.0 is to use POJOs, Java annotations, and the dependency injection design pattern to quickly construct loosely coupled and testable applications with ease. Extending the EJB 3.0-style programming model beyond the formal specification, JBoss AS 4.0.3 supports value-added POJO services throughout the JBoss Enterprise Middleware Suite (JEMS) suite of products. In this hike, we will walk through an introduction of the overall POJO + annotation based programming model for EJB 3.0. We will also explore how to install the JBoss EJB 3.0 Application Server and run this TrailBlazer application as an example.
