    Tuning SPECjAppServer2002

     

    Introduction

     

    The SPECjAppServer2002 benchmark can be run for a number of reasons � to evaluate the administrative and runtime capabilities of a specific J2EE Application Server; to verify the compliance of a specific J2EE Application Server with the Sun J2EE Specification or to obtain performance results.

     

    This document assumes that SPECjAppServer2002 is being used to determine the performance of the JBoss J2EE Application Server and will describe some tuning methodology and techniques.

     

    This document assumes that the reader has some experience with the Windows 2003 Operating Systems e.g. can navigate directories; edit files; copy files etc., has some Java knowledge e.g. where to download the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and how to run it etc., has some knowledge of the JBoss J2EE Application Server and Database being tuned. This document assumes a small amount of knowledge of the SPECjAppServer2002 benchmarks.

     

    For the purposes of this document it is assumed that Windows 2003 is being used to run SPECjAppServer2002 on JBoss 3.2.6-final with Sun�s SDK 1.4.2_05 against Oracle 9i.
