There's no such thing as a stupid question (only stupid answers) ;-). A good starting point for documentations is http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=22866. Under JBoss3.0.0 you can find the QuickStart-Guide and some examples. The beans are mapped to a table by the table-name tag (you can even map a bean to a different datasource (and database-type), see jbosscmp-jdbc_3_0.dtd in the docs/dtd directory for details). If you have only a single datasource all the configuration should go into the defaults-section. You were right about the assumption, that you have to write a service-file for each datasource, but then the datasources are identified by the jndi-names (again in the datasource-tag of jbosscmp-jdbc.xml).
