Diff. between web.xml and web.xml.org?

When I deploy a web service then in the JBoss WAR directory there are suddenly 2 web.xml files:

- web.xml and
- web.xml.org

The web.xml.org looks like my original descriptor while
web.xml changed significantly.

What is the difference?

We're rewriting web.xml with our endpoint servlet because there's no support for doing it in memory. This JBoss 4.x issue only.

... but the problem is, that the original web.xml is modified - so when i want to use the same (exploded) war (directory) for distribution on a different app-server, it won't work....

Why can't you use the web.xml.org instead and leave the web.xml unchanged??
