Distributed EJB container

Have we ever considered a distributed container where you could control the instance pool cluster wide? A customer brought it up yesterday and I have never heard it discussed internally.

We should have a multi-layered approach, so that we can bootstrap a clustered 'Service' Bean to hold that kind of config.

Then we can also use a clusterd MDB as an endpoint for timer service.
