No, it just wouldn't be a direct dependency. That would be moved to some JNDI plugin that handles those properties. And that plugin has to be enabled.

JNDI context properties is also another valid usage that is recommended over direct usage of SecurityAssociation or any internal JBoss Security API. SecurityClient was written for the users.
