I am trying to do a very simple task: asynchronously validate a required input text and, if its a null or empty string, reRender the rich:messages component. When the rich:messages component reRenders I want to use a rich:effect (Appear).

I'm not going to show a bunch of throw away code (unless you want it), all I really want is a cookbook example or a quick 1-2-3 steps outlined that I should take. I'll do the rest =)
