It is managed by the application server.

So it doesn't use HttpSession on the underlayer?

Well it is kept at server side by the container, and it managed by the client through sessions.
As the user the user request a stateful session bean a unique id is created for him at the server side and when he request it again he uses this id.

So each request to SFSB, the appserver will create one state eventhough the user logged in that requested the bean is the same user? So can I conclude that SFSB is not built on top of HttpSession? -

The fundamental idea of idea of Entperise Beans is to have two parts: The interface that is used to acces the bean and the implementation itself. The later is stored by the application server and might even be on a remote machine.
Where you store the handle of a stateful session bean is entirely up to you as a developer - but, yes, usually you would put into the http session.
