What would be the best way to reformat a "read only" variabl

Right now a read-only variable looks identical to an input text area. We really need to change that so its clear the var is read-only.

For a start, we could just not have it NOT show up in that grey box.

Where in the jsps, jsfs, tiles or css file would be the best place to make that change?

good question. now the read-only fields look similar cause i didn't know how to do it otherwise with plain jsf.

if you know how to do that in jsf. feel free to experiment and if it works, let us know, preferrably via a jira issue.

working on it. If I remember during the day to send 'the' fax, I can check it in. Read-only variables render as normal text or as a disabled input. It is configurable (currently in web.xml)

Required vars are rendered even differently. css can be used to configure this.

I wonder why nobody asked for 'required' variables to be 'optional' if the process is just saved, but not advanced from a task. This currently does not work, so maybe nobody uses it or nobody dares to report it.

Are you saying this should be possible by changing the web.xml, but there is a bug with that that no one has reported. Or just that even now the read-only variables should not be showing up that way?

I was going down this path as a solution. I added this to task.jsp. It wasn't quite working so the sytax must be off a bit somewhere.

I finally saw on a browser at my brothers house that the read only variables had grey backgrounds. I'm still investigating.

No, I meant that either displaying readonly fields as an inputbox or just as outputtext is in my extension configurable in the web.xml.

Can you elaborate?

I checked this web.xml "the only one I could find"
./src/resources/jbpm.war/WEB-INF/web.xml

but it only had the normal servlet and filter stuff.
