You can load the process definition using the graph session like:
JbpmContext jbpmContext = JbpmContext.getCurrentJbpmContext();
GraphSession graphSession = jbpmContext.getGraphSession();
ProcessDefinition processDefinition = graphSession.loadProcessDefinition(processDefinitionId);
Once the process is loaded, you can access any of its children.
look at the testcases/examples. LOTS of info there on how to do this......... sigh....

testcases are normally in the sourcecode, so start with that.
