Is there anyway to highlight all UI elements which has a FacesMessage?

Requirement is straight forward, would like to use rich:messages to display all validation errors (triggered by AJAX requests) and needs to highlight ( by putting red border or something ) those fields where validation fails.

Seen few samples by using phases listner, but would like to know whether any other appoaches or fresh thoughts for the same?
