2. Re: Non-modal panel nonmodal
supernovasoftware.com Sep 25, 2008 10:45 AM (in response to zigster)I have seen this requested before and it would be useful.
Can you please comment on why this is not possible and if there are any plans to make this a possibility in the future? -
3. Re: Non-modal panel nonmodal
zigster Sep 25, 2008 11:07 AM (in response to zigster)Yes really all I want is the modal panel with the "modality" switched off - i.e. I don't want the background to be locked up

4. Re: Non-modal panel nonmodal
supernovasoftware.com Sep 25, 2008 12:43 PM (in response to zigster)Here is a request for this over a year ago in Jira.
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/RF-994
Why does the panel have to lock the background?
My app does rerender things in the background even when locked. -
5. Re: Non-modal panel nonmodal
ilya_shaikovsky Sep 26, 2008 5:51 AM (in response to zigster)ok guys. Seems I have the solution for you.
use rich:tooltip. set attached to false. and set hideEvent to none. Then you could call the tooltip when you need and hide also by your controls. -
6. Re: Non-modal panel nonmodal
zigster Sep 26, 2008 11:34 AM (in response to zigster)attached and hideEvent do not appear to be valid attributes for toolTip
can you provide an example of how to implement this? -
7. Re: Non-modal panel nonmodal
blackdog69 Sep 27, 2008 3:13 AM (in response to zigster)A NonModalPanel with the same properties as the ModalPanel (i.e. moveable and resizable) without actually being modal would be most helpful!
Couldn't it be done by modifying the ModalPanel to simply not create the mask when it's rendered?
Just my 1/50th of a $

8. Re: Non-modal panel nonmodal
supernovasoftware.com Sep 28, 2008 6:44 PM (in response to zigster)It does seem that this would be the case, but there must be a good reason why this has not been done already.
If someone could please state the problems with this, maybe the community would be more equipped to provide a patch or other solution. -
9. Re: Non-modal panel nonmodal
zigster Sep 29, 2008 3:16 PM (in response to zigster)OK I would be willing to pay someone to implement this. If you have a working solution please deploy an example somewhere online and name your price.

11. Re: Non-modal panel nonmodal
janson12 Oct 9, 2008 8:28 AM (in response to zigster)i don't know your scenario(s) but for a primitive workaround you could use a normal panel that is set to invisible by default (e.g. via value binding) and make it appear after soem action has been performed. of course you wouldn't have the resize and remove feature then...

12. Re: Non-modal panel nonmodal
supernovasoftware.com Nov 17, 2008 7:11 PM (in response to zigster)I just tried this.
I have an a4j:commandButton that opens the modal. I looked at the source of my page and found that there are 2 divs that block the background.
They are named with the name of your panel plus Div and CursorDiv.oncomplete="javascript:Richfaces.showModalPanel('editPOPanel',{left:'auto', top:'auto'}); jQuery('#editPOPanelDiv').addClass('hidden'); jQuery('#editPOPanelCursorDiv').addClass('hidden');"
The forum was not interested in putting this on one line. :(
Anyway, using jQuery to add a class 'hidden'.hidden { display:none ! important; visibility:hidden ! important; }
hides both of these and makes it non modal.
Can anyone see why this is not a good approach?
Will this cause some problems I am unaware of?
Any suggestions would be most welcome. -
