    Welcome to JBoss DNA!

Welcome to the JBoss DNA discussion forum. We're a new project that's building an enterprise repository. For more information, see our project page at http://labs.jboss.org/dna.

Post here if you have questions or suggestions, or if you're interested in developing some of our components.

          Hi Randall,
DNA looks very interesting and I'd like to participate / contribute to the project.
It is especially interesting because I was working with different sort of metadata for years, and during last year on a very similar project: - web client that accesses to hierarchical enterprise data (e.g. documents) through the JCR as a unified API (based on Jackrabbit implementation), view layer - RichFaces / JSF / Facelets, middle layer based on JBoss Seam /EJB3 / Drools / Spring framework. The project build system was based on Maven.

So what I can say - it's small world ;)

Let me know (if you still looking for contributors) what components that I could help with?

            Hi Sergiy,

We're absolutely looking for contributors, and there's a lot to do. We're always looking for more sequencers and connectors, plus there are other architectural components that we still want to build (including a view system). Have you run through the Getting Started guide and the examples (see http://www.jboss.org/file-access/default/members/dna/freezone/docs/0.2/manuals/gettingstarted/html/index.html)? If not, that'd be a great (simple) place to start.

If you haven't already, please sign the JBoss contributor agreement (http://www.jboss.org/contributor) and join the mailing lists (see http://www.jboss.org/dna/lists.html), especially the "dev" list. Let us know if you have any questions or problems, and when you've signed the agreement.

            Best regards,

            Randall

              Hi Randall,
I've signed the agreement (confirmation is in pro), read DNA docs, and joined the dev mailing list.

In addition to a middle layer/view layer (especially if buid using SEAM/JSF) I'm interested also in DNA-55 (Rest and Atom) - there are several frameworks/libs available that can make integration easier - including JBoss RESTeasy (JAX-RS, JSR-311 impl, btw, Seam has built-in support), ROME (parsing, generating and publishing RSS and Atom feeds), Apache Abdera (Atom Implementation), etc.

I also can contribute to DNA-37 (Federate schema information from relational sources) - several years ago I've developed JDBC based app that uses Apache Commons Chain (Chain of Responsibility) and extracts DatabaseMetadata and stores it in XML form for further comparison.

              Best regards,

              Sergiy

Welcome aboard, Sergiy. I just sent out an email to the development list. More discussion there.

                Best regards,

                Randall
