First, see the the section Serving Static External Files jboss-3.2.4 Onwards at http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=ExternalDirectories. But, ignore step 1, it makes no sense. And of course, the context.xml file is in server/xxx/deploy/jbossweb-tomcat55.sar.
Tried this on 4.0.3SP1 and 4.0.4GA, worked in both, once I realized that the URLs are case sensitive.
I do not claim that the above is the "correct" way to do this, just that it worked for me.
Oh, and since this is the JBoss Web Server forum, and not one of the many app server forums, I should state that I have not yet tried this on the JBoss Web Server.
My conscience is bothering me that I did not try this on the JBoss Web Server. I tried it. It didn't work. And there is nothing in the documentation that says how to do this, at least as far as I could see.
http://www.jbossfaq.com/mvnforum/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=163#272 this worked for me. but i agree with you Peter, i'm not sure this is the best or only way to do this. some documentation on this would be great. it may exist, but i can't find it.
