I am currently in the process of playing with Tomcat and JBossWeb especially in the performance area. I think you have done a great job since the results have shown that (using my real life example application) JBoss is out of the box faster than Tomcat.

While I was browsing the online forums and documentation I have came to http://www.jboss.org/community/wiki/VersionOfTomcatInJBossAS and a could see that JBoss 4.2.0 was the first to include JBossWeb.

I was wondering how did it all started. But I could not find much information about what were the initial goals of JBossWeb. Why was the project created in the first place? What were the first problems to be solved?

Could you assist me with further information.
