Hi to all,
IE8 was released, but the bug still remain.
A workaround is needed.
We need a fix/workaround for this please...
IT departments are starting to support IE8 now.
3.3.1.GA contains fix for the issue.
I have some users hitting this issue with my application.
The JIRA for this issue says that this has been fixed in 3.3.1.GA by forcing IE8 to emulate IE7, which is fine.
However http://www.jboss.org/community/wiki/IE8CompatibilityModewithRichfaces says that this doesn't always work and a work-around should be used.
The workaround suggested involves using the header tag in pages.xml. However this was introduced in Seam 2.1.0.BETA1. Anyone (like me) on a prior version will have to set the header in a ServletFilter.
Workarounds are cool, however what is the medium term solution for this? I realise that MS hasn't helped here. Will a change in DOCTYPE help? A sticky thread may be nice too.
ps. apologies if this issue has been covered. The forum isn't searchable at present. Had to rely on Google.
The problem is resolved in 3.3.1.GA. No workarounds or forcing IE7 emulation should be necessary for this RF version.
This is because in 3.3.1.GA you cannot use <META HTTP-EQUIV> tag and have to modify HTTP headers (using Seam pages.xml or custom-coded Servlet API Filter). RF 3.3.1.GA doesn't presume HEAD elements ordering, so META tags are sometimes put after resources declaration, but should be put before. https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/RF-7344 addresses the problem.
